- The complete City ZX (pronounced ‘ZeeX’) range has a sleeker and more contemporary design, lending it enhanced styling
- VTEC engine offers an undisputed combination of power (over 100 bhp) and fuel efficiency in the segment
- Bookings to start immediately
The current City, which was introduced two years back, with a complete design and technology make-over, revolutionized the premium segment of the Indian passenger car industry. The City today has overtaken all competition in fuel efficiency and performance and is the most sought after sedan in its segment.
Speaking on the occasion of the first new product introduction under his leadership, Mr. Masahiro Takedagawa, President and CEO, Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. said, “The decision to launch City ZX in India, almost simultaneously with other parts of Asia, is part of our thrust to bring in the latest products and technologies from our global stable for our Indian customers. We are glad to offer the advantages of the revolutionary VTEC engine in combination with the futuristic design of the City ZX.”
City ZX range includes 4 variants - EXi, GXi, CVT (Automatic Transmission) and VTEC. While EXi, GXi and CVT variants come with the advanced combustion system of the 1.5 litre Intelligent Dual & Sequential Ignition (i-DSI) engine, City VTEC embodies a 1.5 litre VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) engine.
“The City is one of the most successful car brands in the country and certainly the most desirable sedan in its category. No wonder, we have already exhausted all units of the car, much earlier than what we had anticipated,” he further added.
Elaborating on the expansion at the Greater Noida plant, he said, “Our plant is currently in the process of expansion and the expanded capacity (50,000 units per year) will be ready by early November. We will accordingly start deliveries of the new range, including the VTEC version.”
City ZX - Enhanced and Contemporary Styling
The City ZX range is styled to set a new trend with its sleek and sporty looks. Its contemporary design lends it a more premium style, as compared with the earlier City model. The new range is longer (4390mm) than the earlier version and comes with a higher bonnet, lending it a bolder look. It also offers increased trunk space (500 L), nearly matching that of luxury vehicles. The streamlined sweep of the road-hugging low baseline, the bold imagery of the headlights and the wide tapering trunk are designed to attract admiring glances from onlookers.
The new range will continue to come with other attractive features of the earlier model - premium dual-tone beige interiors with wood paneling; unparalleled spaciousness and comfort and convenience amenities. Additionally, Electronic Power Steering, newly designed suspensions, advanced NVH control mechanisms and safety control measures will continue to provide enhanced value to the customers.
Like its predecessor, the City ZX meets Honda’s stringent safety standards. Already acclaimed for its safety shielding with arched side frames to direct energy from the bumpers away from the passenger “survival zone”, the City ZX is now enhanced for even greater protection with an extended front-end design.
The new range is being offered in 3 additional colours - Alabaster Silver, Bluish Silver & Galaxy Gray, apart from the existing colours - New Warm Silver, Night Hawk Black, Taffeta White and Royal Ruby Red. It will be available nationally through the company’s 50 exclusive Honda outlets across the country. Customers will also have the convenience of replacing their older used cars with City ZX through Auto Terrace, Honda’s pre owned car service.
City VTEC – Sporty and Powerful
The much-awaited City VTEC, will come with sporty exteriors and plush interiors, catering to the upper premium segment customers. On the outside, the car will be adorned by 14” alloy wheels, front and rear fog lamps and rear disc brake. The interiors have been made more lavish with the help of leather steering, centre console and beige and black upholstery.
An optitron meter, a self-illuminating high-visibility instrument panel with a distinctive three-dial meter cluster, shows all information at a glance, leading to more driving pleasure and effortless control. This user-friendly meter display is usually only available in luxury model cars.
The car with its exemplary VTEC engine, which is symbolic of Honda’s excellence in technology innovation, will deliver a high power of over 100 bhp. The VTEC engine combines two different combustion environments – one similar to a racing car engine (high rpm) and the other of a standard passenger car engine (low rpm), thus overcoming the inherent performance limitations posed by conventional engines which have a single type of combustion environment. The extremely advanced mechanism of the engine results in giving a unique combination of high performance and low fuel consumption.
