Honda Cars India records annual sales growth of 4.3% in FY 21-22 Registers 278% growth in export volumes in FY 21-22

New Delhi, April 01, 2022: Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, registered annual domestic sales of 85 609 units during FY 21–22, recording 4.3% growth over last financial year. The company had sold 82,074 units during FY 20-21.

HCIL exported a total volume of 19 401 units during FY 21-22 as compared to 5 131 units in FY 20-21, registering a growth of 278%.

Sharing thoughts on the sales performance, Mr. Yuichi Murata, Director, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “The last fiscal year has been a mixed bag for the industry. Every quarter was punctuated with multiple challenges - from the pandemic to paucity, hike in raw material pricing and chip shortage. The industry, however, showed resilience and succeeded in restoring positivity in the market."

He further added, “We weren't isolated from these challenges and did feel the impact of the chip shortage. With market situation returning to normalcy after an extended tough period, the current situation looks stable paving way for growth in future. We are entering this financial year with renewed energy and enthusiasm.”

The company registered monthly domestic sales of 6 589 units and export of 2 243 units in Mar’22 against 7 103 units in domestic sales and 1 069 units of export in Mar’21.
