1972-1979
1st Generation Civic
  • 1972 saw the birth of the Honda Civic – for the people – for the world.
  • Powered by the iconic CVCC engine
  • Civic became the first car to meet the world’s most stringent U.S Clean Air Act (Muskie Law) in 1975.
  • The Hondamatic and Civic CVCC were soon complemented with a sporty Civic RS in this period.
  • Won "Car of the Year" awards in Japan, United States & Europe
1979 - 1983
2nd Generation Civic
  • The early 80's saw the rise of the "Super Civic".
  • A 4-door version was introduced along with the Station Wagon configuration for creating high quality & convenience for the customers.
  • At its heart, was an efficient CVCC II engine.
  • Won "U.S. Import Car of the Year 1980".
1984- 1987
3rd Generation Civic
  • With the mid 80’s came the "Wonder Civic".
  • Based on Honda’s Man Maximum Machine Minimum philosophy, it was packed with Sport Compact Performance
  • Loaded with F1 technologies like the 12 Valve Cross Flow engine.
  • 1984: "Car of the Year, Japan" award in Japan; "Torino-Piedmonte Car Design Award", in Europe
1987-1991
4th Generation Civic
  • The 4th generation civic, fondly called the "Grand Civic".
  • Conceptualized to deliver an exhilarating performance along with higher efficiency.
  • Honda’s Hyper 16 valve engine was combined with an F1 inspired 4-wheel Double – Wishbone Rear Suspension System.
  • Winner of "Golden Steering Wheel Award" from German newspaper, Bild am Sonntag
1991-1995
5th Generation Civic
  • The 5th generation "Sport Civic" was launched in a 2 door coupe avatar with a futuristic & aerodynamic form.
  • It also marked the arrival of the new VTEC engines, representing a major advancement in human and environmental friendliness.
  • Civic Production passed the 10 Million mark during this period.
  • Won the "Car of the Year Japan" awards in 1991 and 1992
1995-2000
6th Generation Civic
  • In the 6th generation the "Miracle Civic" was styled as an Si Coupe.
  • Packed with a Next Generation Variable Speed Automatic Transmission.
  • Civic's first diesel model and a natural gas powered Civic GX was introduced
  • Won "Car of the Year Japan" awards in 1995 and 1996
2000-2005
7th Generation Civic
  • Crafted for the new millennium, the 7th Generation Civic featured a larger Cabin than ever before.
  • Offered better fuel economy and a smoother ride.
  • It also became the 2nd Hybrid Model in the Honda portfolio.
  • Won the "Car of the Year Japan" awards consecutively in 2001 and 2002.
2005-2011
8th Generation Civic
  • The 8th generation Civic, with its emotional styling and sensuous quality, soon became a rage in India winning the Indian Car of the Year 2007.
  • This NEW AGE CIVIC, powered by a 1.8 litre i-VTEC engine took performance and efficiency to a new level.
