Civic Hybrid is the latest embodiment of Honda's long-term commitment to the development of environmentally friendly technologies that are also fun to drive. The vehicle combines a petrol engine with an electric motor and contribute greatly to the reduction of fuel consumption and emissions. CIVIC SENSE
The Civic Hybrid throbs to life using a primary engine and an on-board rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) that increase fuel efficiency and minimize emissions. The motor assists the engine when power is needed for standing starts and accelerating. During deceleration, the motor converts the rotational energy of the wheels to electricity the charge the battery. That power is than re-used for acceleration. The latest system uses a 3-stage i-VTEC engine with valve control for low speed, high speed and engine stop. Combined with IMA (Integrated Motor Assist), this achieves ample torque from low revs as well as ultra-low fuel consumption.
